Feb. 15, 2023

The U10 Tornadoes played in the 41st Annual Guelph Predators Ringette Tournament over the February 10 - 12, 2023 weekend and they had a fantastic time.   Our first game was at 8:00am on Friday morning and even though it was an early start our players were eager and ready to take on their first opponent, Guelph Massie.   The first period was almost half done before Nathaniel Johnson scored from Eva Belliveau putting Timmins up 1-0.   With about 3 minutes left in the period two goals, 12 seconds apart put Timmins up 3-0.   Lydia Porritt and Harper Paul teamed up on the 2nd goal with Nathanial and Eva scoring the third.   In the second period Lydia Porritt, Nathanial Johnson, Mila Durepos and Harper Paul scored goals with Mila Corriveau, Aime Durepos, Nathanial, Lydia and Harper all chipping in with assists.

The second game on Friday put Timmins up against a very strong team from Etobicoke.    At the end of the first period the Tornadoes were down 9-5.   Nathanial notched all Timmins goals with a pair of assists from Layna Mascaro and one from Eva Belliveau.   In the first half of the 2nd period Harper Paul scored but Etobicoke scored 2 more putting them up 11-6.   The last 8 minutes of the game saw 9 goals scored … Talk about action !!   Nathanial got a pair with singles from Mila Durepos, Mila Corriveau and Lydia Porritt and assists from Maeve Corriveau, Ana Roy, Axton Laneville, Nathanial and 2 from Eva.   The game ended with Timmins coming out on the short end of a 14-11 score but their compete level was way up there!

The third game of the round robin had the Tornadoes going up against Guelph Sharpe.   Timmins poured it on from the opening free pass and were up 5-1 after one.   Ana Roy got her first and multiple goals from Eva Belliveau, Nathanial Johnson and Mila Durepos gave the Timmins team a final score of 8-1.

The round robin ended with Timmins tied for second place and after the tie breaker found themselves in the championship game on Sunday against Etobicoke.   The first period saw two goals from Lydia Porritt and singles from Eva Belliveau and Mila Durepos and the game was tied up at 4.   The second period was back and forth with tremendous fight until the end.   Etobicoke scored the only goal of the period with just under 3 minutes left and hung on for the win.   Timmins Tornadoes bring home a silver medal !!!
